Every once in a while we all run in to one of those grumpy souls. You know who I’m talking about, the people who always seem to find the worst in any situation. I must admit that I have done that myself at times. What I’ve found is that you’ve got to be able to laugh every once in a while, even if only at the sometimes seeming absurdities that fall my way. You need to cultivate a positive mental attitude on life. Otherwise, you end up like the grumpy guy. A grouch that’s no fun!
How do you counteract the things that happen on a daily basis? You do it by developing motivational thoughts that come to your mind automatically, daily affirmations that can bring you up no matter what’s going on. The question is, are you willing to put in the work and develop a positive mental attitude toward life’s daily challenges or will you let the challenges of life control your daily attitude?
If you have a tenancy to lean towards the Eeyore outlook, take a few minutes and search out some of the many websites which have motivational thoughts you can choose from, ready and waiting for you to put to use throughout the day. Some sites will actually send positive thoughts right to your email, with no effort on your part other than signing up for it and then reading them. What could be easier?
What if the e-mail gives you a motivation thought you’ve already contemplated? Then use another you haven’t thought through completely. Just put on your thinking cap and within a minute or two, something should come to mind. Sometimes, the simplest of motivational thoughts can be the most thought provoking indeed.
For example, you just got in your car to go to work. So what’s so great about that, says Mr. or Ms. Grouch?
Well for one you are working. For another you are able to help your family. For another you are able to support your favorite charity. For another you are able to use your talents. By just taking a step back you can increase your awareness, which can spur you on to more positive acts and strengthen your gratitude muscles.
We all know that some days are better than others. So much so, that there are days when you’ve really need to reach for that motivational thought for the day. If you’re really fresh out of positive thoughts, go for a joke of the day. Maybe the joke of the day will make you laugh, which will improve your attitude. Perhaps you recall the, how many psychiatrists does it take to screw in a light bulb, joke. One. But only if the light bulb really wants to change.
When you are reading a motivational thought or joke of the day you are trying to change. That’s all we can do. So why not keep your spirits and cheer up with a motivational thought for the day, every day?
